District Conference

I went to my first district conference this month. It was at Rokua Health & Spa. Rotarians from all over the district came as well as all of the district's exchange students. Most of the program didn't really apply to us exchange students and there were only a few things we had to attend. We had a formal opening meeting, a formal dinner and ball where we each introduced ourselves to the Rotarians in Finnish and sang together the Finnish National Anthem and then on the final day we attended the closing meeting. Other than those things though, it was a free weekend for us. It was fantastic weather and so we mostly spent our time outside by the lake. The water was freezing still but we braved it a few times for a dip! Mostly we just soaked up the sun, threw a ball around and hung out together all weekend! It was so nice to feel the warmth of the sun again! :D

Thanks to Andrew Barne and Rachel Hochstein for the photos! :D

  1. Love the sports coat with all the pins. I still have mine from 1988-89 when I spent a year in Finland. Glad you had a fantastic year. Cherish all the memories, both the sad and the happy.
